JH&S Committee

Your JH&S Committee is composed of both KBD employees and KBD management. The mandate of your JH&S Committee is to identify potential health and safety problems in the workplace and bring them to management's attention.

The four principal functions of the JH&S Committee are:

  • to identify potential hazards;
  • to evaluate these potential hazards;
  • to recommend corrective action; and
  • to follow up on implemented recommendations.

The committee holds meetings at least once every three months and conducts workplace inspections monthly. Agendas are prepared by the Cindy and distributed one week in advance of the meeting date. If you wish to have an item added to the agenda, please submit it to Cindy at least one week prior to the meeting date.

All committee members are available to:

  • receive employee concerns, complaints and recommendations;
  • discuss problems and recommend solutions; and
  • provide input into existing and proposed health and safety programs.

Every meeting must have members present who represent both the employees and the employer. Beyond that, there is no other conditions for a quorum. Minutes of each meeting are recorded and contain details of all matters discussed, as well as a full description of problems and their resolution or any action deemed necessary. Minutes are then signed by the co-chairpersons and posted in at the driver entrance within one week of the meeting.
