In Cab Distraction Policy
IN-CAB DISTRACTION POLICY
Employees travelling in a company-owned or Owner/Operator plated vehicle are prohibited from using all communication devices such as, but not limited to:
- cell phones
- satellite systems
- computers
without a hands-free device while driving, regardless of whether the business being conducted is personal or company related.
This prohibition includes:
- placing or receiving calls
- text messaging
- surfing the net
- receiving or responding to e-mail
- checking for phone messages
- or any other purpose not named yet involving company or personal activities while driving
SAFETY GUIDELINES
- AVOID TEMPTATION: Keep your phone and/or computer out of reach while driving;
- Allow voicemail to handle your calls and return them when safe;
- Pull off the road to a safe and complete stop before using communication devices;
- Inform regular callers of the best time to reach you based on your daily schedule;
- EXCEPTION for 9-1-1:
- If placing or accepting an emergency call, keep the call short and use hands-free options;
- When receiving an emergency call, ask the caller to hold while you pull your vehicle safely off the road.
