7-Point Inspection Procedure

7-POINT TRAILER INSPECTION PROCEDURE

  1. OUTSIDE / UNDERCARRIAGE
    1. Inspect prior to entering facility.
    2. Support beams should be visible.
  2. OUTSIDE / INSIDE DOORS
    1. Secure and reliable locking mechanisms.
    2. Look for different colour bonding material.
    3. Look for loose bolts.
    4. Check plates and any reapirs.
  3. RIGHT SIDE
    1. Look for any unusual repairs to structural beams.
    2. Repairs to the walls on the inside of the container must be visible on the outside.
    3. Use a tool to tap side walls. Listen and feel for hollow sound!
  4. LEFT SIDE
    1. Look for any unusual repairs to structural beams.
    2. Repairs to the walls on the inside of the container must be visible on the outside.
    3. Use a tool to tap side walls. Listen and feel for hollow sound!
  5. FRONT WALL
    1. Check that blocks and vents are visible.
    2. Use a tool to tap front wall. Listen and feel for hollow sound!
    3. A range-finder, measuring tape, and/or string can be utilized to determine the length of the van.
  6. CEILING / ROOF
    1. Ensure ceiling is a certain height from the floor and that blocks and vents are visible.
    2. Is there an uncomfortable feeling inside the trailer?
    3. Repairs to the ceiling on the inside of the container should be visible on the outside.
    4. Use a tool to tap the ceiling. Listen for a hollow sound!
  7. FLOOR (INSIDE)
    1. Floor should be a certain height from the ceiling.
    2. Floor should be flat. Do not need to step up to get inside!
    3. Are there different floor heights?
    4. Are there any unusual repairs?
